That is because there is no limit for people following you. There is a limit on how many people you follow.

Increasing your follower count will increase the numbers of interested people. The other people will eventually stop following you. Personally, I’ve seen some very promising signs with Twitter and promotions or driving traffic to my sites.

I don’t really get the whole urge to get as many followers as possible. In the end its about who is interesting and who isnt.

I was never aware that there was a limit on the number of people you can follow (in comparison to how many are following you, through a ratio you).
