If you ask any internet marketer, what is one of their best strategy to get quick sales on a product they just recommended. Most would say it is their emailing list. This is because the internet marketers have a list of people that might be willing to buy products they would recommend. And these buyers can be contacted by emails.

With this benefit of having an email list, how can you increase your email subscribers list? You can increase it by

1. Writing Good Content: Your blog’s content is the main reason why people are reading your blog. If you have good content about how you make money online and it is beneficial to your reader, then you should be sure of getting subscribers to your blog.

2. Give out free stuff: I don’t know why, but most people love to receive free stuffs. You can give out free stuff to increase your email subscription. You can give out anything that you think is important to the reader. The free stuff that most bloggers give is a free ebook. The ebook is usually written or made by the blogger. Giving out other people’s ebook without their person would be copyright infringement. The way to go about this free stuff is that people have to subscribe to the email for them to receive it in their email.

3. Write a Password Protected Post: If you don’t have anything to give for free, you can write a post detailing how your readers can make money with proof. As you know, internet marketers don’t like to disclose their main strategy on how they make money on the internet. So if you write a verifiable strategy in the post, your readers that own blogs can blog about the post and this would help to get more people to want to read the post.

4. Hold a Contest: This is another free stuff strategy. When you are holding the contest, you tell people to subscribe to your blog email for them to be eligible for the contest.

5. Trade by Barter: You can tell people to register to your email list and you would give them something in return. I did this ones with entrecard credit. I told some people to subscribe and I would give them some entrecard credits. You can also meet other blogs and agree to subscribe to the other person’s list.

I noticed on Twitter that someone posted a update regarding a freelance service. After checking it out (related to cutting layouts into valid XHTML code templates) I started to think that becoming a affiliate or internet marketer goes beyond just the sales of products or services.

Many affiliate marketers have skills that others lack. Skills that are valuable to other internet or affiliate marketers but also skills that go beyond this field and into the standard workings and requirements of the internet itself.

To me, a internet or affiliate marketer is a entrepreneur that is trying to find opportunities to make a living solely by their own means. No bosses, no schedule but based only on the desire of calling their own shots. As of now, I’m still not a full time affiliate marketer, but I am a full time entrepreneur. I’ve owned my own web development business for five years, and I added affiliate marketing to the business as a way to diversify. And now I’m want to make that a focus. But you could definitely look at it the other way. Affiliate marketers should definitely look at selling services to make a few dollars to diversify your income streams.

Looking at the freelance service, I was thinking that many marketers, could do simple coding project, or design work, or content writing that has nothing to do with the affiliate marketing field and make a few dollars during down times. Also this could provide networking opportunities or potential niche research with the clients you’re working with.

I already mentioned Wealthy Affiliate’s Jobs area that provides a venue for programmers and designers to be hired within the affiliate community. Digital Point might be another place to look for these opportunities. Freelance sites are all over the internet and could be a wealth of opportunity.

The bottom line, diversity is very important be it niches or affiliate strategies, but diversifying your income stream could save your bacon.

That’s the first item to understand. It can provide many benefits and those benefits are combined with some solid affiliate marketing techniques it teaches, to me, make this program a very useful and profitable program.

I wanted to break down some of the features and benefits. I’m sure their promotional video might show more, but wanted to give me opinion on a few of these items.

Forum
Their forum community is fantastic. A excellent blend of rookies to seasoned vets. To me, the forum is worth the price of subscription on it’s own. Since it’s a ‘pay’ site, you get rid of all the riff-raff, and you provide a venue for individuals that are trying to succeed and stick it out in the affiliate marketing space.

Share Zone
Here is a place where the community publicly posts resources. Individuals can rate resources. You could spend days in here.

Site Rubix/Hosting
This is FREE hosting for landing pages, etc. If you wanted to experiment with sites, and not want to immediately purchase hosting, etc. You could use your Site Rubix account. I played with some PPC to landing page type hosting here. Site Rubix allows you to easily create some simple sites. I don’t particularly use that tool.. but I do use the hosting.

Rapid Writer
I just started looking at this tool. I’m not the world’s greatest writer, so I didn’t look at this too much. But this is great. It’s a simple article editor. It allows you to research keywords (showing quoted results, etc). It’ll also check your keyword density. I ended up writing some content and bringing it into here for some tweaking. I also start here to see what keyword competition is like. I know SEO Book has some similar tools as well.

Spaces
Spaces is fun. It’s basically like a little social network where you can ‘buddy’ with people. You can update your profile with photo, bio. Profile also has a blog feature where I sometimes promote blog entries for this blog.

Jobs
I just wrote about jobs, but this is a great resource where you can hire people to write content or do PHP programming, or vice-versa and offer your own services to make a few dollars on the side. This is a FANTASTIC tool. I like the ability to outsource some of these tasks (ie: content writing).

My-Linker
This is basically a link cloak and link click tracking tool. Basically you add the target link, and it gives you a link that acts as a middle man.

KW Tool
Keyword Research Tool is something I’m learning more and more about. Along with my PPC efforts, I’ve been trying to pump up my natural organic results. Learning about keywords, competition and density can be extremely useful for PPC and/or SEO work.

8 Week Action Plan
This is the step by step plan where they prep you into affiliate marketing. This is great for complete new-comers to the system. The draw back is that the plans are laid out in weeks, so you can’t jump ahead. I guess, that really isn’t a draw back, it’s a way to pace yourself and digest the material it throws at you. It starts off very simple with basic assignments to familiarize yourself with their interface and portal, and then off to solid techniques of content writing to SEO, etc. This is fantastic for beginners and a great refresher course for veterans out there or a way to give a vet a new point of view.

Affiliates
Wealthy Affiliate also offers a nice affiliate program where you can earn income from sign ups. If money is tight but want to subscribe, immediately promote this program on your blog, etc. Your monthly subscription could be free with only a couple of sign ups. It’s quite simple.

There are many more features like NicheQ, Research Center, Marketing Matrials, Accreditations, Learning Center, etc. The place is massive with a large community and plenty of materials to read and learn. I highly recommend this program! If this sounds interesting, please sign up! Register at Wealthy Affiliate!

I’ve told this to people countless of times. Diversification is the key to success. Maybe not success, but online survival.

When I look for opportunities, I first take a hard look at myself. I try to visualize what I have, what I’m good at, and what I need to work on. I look at my affiliate network as if viewing a pie chart. I see where I’m thin, and I see where I’m fat. Ideally, we want to have many equal portion slices in our affiliate world. But reality says this is difficult. It’s hard to stop making the big piece bigger if it’s working. It’s hard to make the thin piece bigger when it doesn’t seem to work or if you’re not good at it.

There was a concept in programming a few years ago, not sure if it’s still around, but it was called XP or eXtreme Programming. It was a philosophy of programming where the programming task(s) was a spiral and you drove a straight line through it. Basically, the idea was not to treat a project as a linear start to finish approach which was the common convention, but to intersect points, repeating areas on the spiral for reevaluation and checking if things were done correctly. The theory was to reduce wasted time and to meet expectations of the client.

I really see using XP as way to diversify. If we take our affiliate goals, projects and techniques and sprial them, once we drive a straight line through it, we would be working on portions of our affiliate marketing network. We would work on improving EPN storefronts one day, the following week we would be working on PPC to offers, the following week we’d be working Adsense Arbitrage, etc. This would get us off the “Once I get my EPN sites working I’ll go work on PPC” attitude and give us opportunity to chip at other arenas. You could still ‘focus’ on hot areas, but if you’re disciplined, you would still be able to work on areas where you’re less experienced.

I never thought of applying XP to affiliate marketing until today, and I’ll be sure to let you know how it goes.

I like to use multiple 'types' of sites for generating revenue across my affiliate marketing network. I've discussed this before, but in a nutshell, you shouldn't focus on one 'type' of site (ie: just a blog, etc). I like to break sites into the following areas:

Affiliate store front

Community driven site

Forums

Blog

Landing Page (PPC to offers)

Article site

Basically, these are types of sites that you can monetize the traffic. Each type of site has their challenges and rewards. It's important to identify those sites and to understand how you can gain income from the visitors to those sites.

Recently, my wife started getting more involved with affiliate marketing. I pointed her to Word Press and we’ll be implementing this product on her product type blogs. As for me, I’ll be creating a few more Word Press product blogs, but I’ll be working on a designing my own review script for my current store fronts. Reviews are a great opportunity to get user created content with direct links to products or services for affiliate conversions.

I am highly recommending WPReviewSite. It’s currently nicely priced at $97. Same price as BANS (horrible), but is well written and can provide additional quality content for your store front or blog.

So 2007 is coming to an end. It's time for reflection and to start planning goals for the coming year. I think reflection is really important. You need to know where you are coming from before looking to where you want to go. I officially started internet marketing in October 2006. That is when I signed up with CJ. I had a few sites running Google AdSense, but I was making about $15/month. Nothing to get excited about. After getting the CJ account, I began seeing the potential. My first month I made $90, followed by $190 for November and $120 for December. At this time, I knew I could make some money.

2007 started with my diversification plan. I had one community site that was doing well with CJ, so I decided to make another on a similar topic but exercising the 10 degrees of separation. Almost immediately, it began to gather content (generated by the public) and was getting traffic. Also at this time I generated a on-line article site dedicated to another area I'm interested in. The goals for both of these sites were simple.

Almost immediately, it began to gather content (generated by the public) and was getting traffic. Also at this time I generated a on-line article site dedicated to another area I’m interested in. The goals for both of these sites were simple.

Community driven content

Generate money from AdSense

Generate money from CJ ads

Generate money from paid banners

Provide a launching point for other sites in development

The first quarter of 2007 didn’t show much improvement from the earlier income stats, but I knew this would take time to develop worthwhile traffic. At this point I wanted to experiment, and decided that 2007 would be a year of testing. I needed to find what directions were promising or a bust. What advertisers were good, or a bust. I needed to learn from the big guys and get a feel of the ’scene’. I spent a ton of time on Shoemoney.com (but lately, I’m keep feeling it’s a sales-blog more than anything now-a-days) and DigitalPoint forum. I’m not the type of personality that gives up quickly or expects overnight results, which is good, since this area of marketing is tough.

About half way through the year, I decided eBay was where I was beginning to see the best results and decided to work that angle harder. Here is when the eBay store fronts (not BANS) begins to come into play. I began fishing with store fronts. Picking niches and seeing what had good opportunities. I also wrote a pretty extensive site tracker. This tracker shows all of my sites and the amount of expenses vs earnings. This is broken down by months with a year end profit/loss total. I needed to see what sites were earning or losing, and ensure that end of the month bottom line was showing profit. This is absolutely critical to my business.

I began to isolate niches that showed promise. Dipping into the third quarter, I wanted to play with PPC. I dabbled in it off and on throughout the year, but I decided to stick with Yahoo and begin to play the sites a bit. It definitely cuts into your profit, and it’s hard to beat the organic Google love, but there is absolutely not a better way to get your sites off of the ground. Determining good PPC sites, I began to see how the PPC game is played in a limited sense. Profits started to climb. CJ sales were reaching the $600-$800/month mark, while AdSense was hitting over $100/month. My subscription banners were bringing in over $200/month, so now my monthly income from affiliates was hovering around $1000 – $1300/month. Not bad from $15/month when I started. Here is a post where I discuss this in more detail.

So what are my goals with 2008? My learning year is ‘over’, so I better step up to the plate in 2008.

Launch at least two community sites (my goal is to sell the sites in 2009.. we’ll see).

Double my eBay store fronts by September

Create at least 4 store fronts using CJ API only (no-ebay)

Double my paid subscription banner sales

At LEAST double my 2007 sales in 2008. I’ll be disappointed if I only double.

Start playing more with CPA landing pages with PPC

PR4 ranking for Money-Code.com

I’m hoping that I’m obviously illustrating that this takes time, patience and persistence. You need to constantly be pushing forward. Don’t get LAZY! I’m a web developer and Linux systems administrator by profession, so I have a busy day. Every spare minute or hour is devoted to this. When I hit a spot where I don’t have a lot of web dev projects, I don’t go on vacation or start sitting on the couch, I jump in full affiliate mode. You have to motivate yourself. See improvement, understand your failures and learn from them. Improve your skill set. That means getting into programming for some of you, or for me getting into business and sales. You also need to be creative and adventurous, identify potential revenue streams, and pursue those streams.
